EVIT Transportation 2026-27: Bus or Carpool? | Carpool-Q

EVIT carpool guide: who gets a bus, and how to share the drive if you don't

Checked October 15, 2026. Next check: April 2027. 2027-28 applications open November 1, and next year's busing isn't decided.

EVIT's transportation page says it in capital letters: "EVIT does NOT provide transportation for students taking the AM 4-hour block." Every other session depends on your district, and if there's no bus for yours, EVIT transportation is your job.

EVIT transportation in 2026-27: who gets a bus

This is 2026-27 only. The busing deal between EVIT and the districts runs one year, so 2027-28 may look different.

If you searched before you landed here, one warning. EVIT's general FAQ still says your home district provides transportation for morning and afternoon sessions, and its How It Works page says every 4-hour program needs its own ride. The transportation page is the current one, and it rules out only the AM 4-hour block. If your student is in a PM 4-hour program, ask Windstar or your district before you count on a bus.

Finding families on your session

Start in the EVIT Carpools group on Facebook, the one EVIT's transportation page links to. It's private, so you ask to join. The group asks every post to name your high school, your campus and your session. Add a fourth line and a match gets much easier.

Looking for an EVIT carpool.
High school: ______
Campus: Main or Power
Session: AM or PM
Days we can drive: ______ (our student does / doesn't drive)

Your high school matters more than your street. PM buses leave the high schools between 10:35 and 11:35 in the morning, the hour most working parents can't get away. For a PM carpool, the driver with the most free time may be a junior or senior with a license and a parking permit.

Once you have two or three families

Monday, Laura Ortiz drives both; Tuesday, Ben Hale drives both; Wednesday, Priya Desai drives both, and Nora is marked not riding; Thursday, Laura Ortiz drives both; Friday, Ben Hale drives both.
Example week: a PM carpool to Power Campus. Made-up families.

The group finds the families. Carpool-Q keeps the week once you have them.

  • One shared week on every family's phone, with a driver for each drop-off and pickup.
  • Mark a rider "not riding" for a day, or swap a day, and every family sees it.
  • If tomorrow has no driver, the whole carpool gets an alert the evening before.

Your student can see the week, including who's driving, on their own phone with a view-only account linked to yours.

Splitting the driving

EVIT sessions don't move all year, so fixed days work well: each family takes the same day every week. Five days won't split evenly between three families, so fix three and rotate the other two. Over three weeks, everyone drives five times.

Applying for 2027-28?

Applications open November 1, 2026. Work out the drive before you pick a session, and don't count on this year's buses. Check EVIT's page again in spring, and post in the carpool group early in summer.

When the families are set, put the week where all of them can see it. The family listed as driver gets a reminder before each drive, if they've turned on notifications.

Each family has its own account: 14 days free, then $1.99 a month per family. You invite the other families by email or a text from the app.

Carpool-Q is not affiliated with EVIT. Bus details on this page come from EVIT's transportation page, checked October 15, 2026. Next check: April 2027.
