Why sports carpools break first
How it works for a team
- Make a carpool for practices. Set the days (Saturday and Sunday included), the times, and the season's start and end dates, so it stops when the season does.
- Make a second one for games if they move around. Each carpool has its own destination. You can run as many as you need for one price and switch between them with one tap.
- Share the invite code with the team parents who want in.
- Add the extras as they come. The coach adds a Friday practice? Add a single-day trip and set its time, without touching the regular week.
- Let the reminders do the rest. The driver hears from Carpool-Q 30 minutes before. If tomorrow has no driver, the whole carpool gets an alert at 10am and 6pm.
What works for any team
- Plan seats by gear, not kids. Know which cars fit three bags and which fit two before the first practice, not in the driveway.
- Share the early mornings. The 6am swim practice and the first game of a Saturday tournament are the shifts nobody volunteers for. Rotate them so the same parent isn't up first every week.
- Keep practices and games apart. Practice is usually the same place on weeknights; games move. Two carpools means you can change the game location without breaking practice.
- Give away weekends their own carpool. Make a carpool for that weekend alone, with the venue as its destination and the tournament dates as its start and end. When the weekend's over, so is the carpool.
- New season, new dates. Rosters change between seasons. Edit the carpool's dates when the new season starts, or start a fresh one.
What it costs
14 days free, no card.
Then $1.99 a month per family, and that covers every carpool you run: every sport, plus the school run. iPhone, Android or any web browser.

Questions team parents ask
Can one carpool handle both practices and games?
It can if they're in the same place. When games move around, use two carpools, since each one has a single destination. Extra carpools cost nothing more.
Does it work for weekend games and tournaments?
Yes. A carpool can run any day of the week, Saturday and Sunday included. For an away tournament, make a carpool just for those dates with that field, gym, pool or rink as its destination.
What if the coach adds a practice?
Add a single-day trip for that date. It starts with the carpool's usual times, and you can change the time and assign a driver for that day only.
Can Carpool-Q pull in our team's schedule?
No. You enter the practice days and times once, and Carpool-Q repeats them every week between the season's start and end dates. Games and one-off practices get added as they're announced.
My kid plays two sports. Do I need two accounts?
No. One account runs as many carpools as you need, one per sport, and you switch between them with one tap. It's still $1.99 a month for your family.
What if a parent can't drive their turn?
Open that day and pick another driver, and the whole carpool sees the change. If the slot is still empty the day before, everyone gets a shortage alert at 10am and 6pm.
Does every family on the team have to sign up?
Only the families in the carpool. Each has its own account with 14 days free, then $1.99 a month per family. Grandparents and sitters aren't covered on your plan; only your spouse or co-parent and your kids are.
